CRA uncashed cheques: how to find and claim them
Independent, free guide. Not affiliated with BC Unclaimed or government.
The CRA holds uncashed refund, benefit and credit cheques, and Government of Canada cheques never expire. There's no public list. Only you, or your authorized representative, can see them.
How to claim CRA uncashed cheques
- Sign in to CRA My Account, or call the CRA.
- Look for the uncashed cheques section.
- Download the pre-filled PWGSC 535 Undertaking and Indemnity form and sign it by hand (the CRA doesn't accept electronic, digital or stamped signatures). Send it back online by uploading a scan through "Submit documents" in My Account, or by mail to the Sudbury tax centre.
- For someone who has died, the estate's authorized representative can ask for it. See unclaimed inheritance.
